The conclusion to the 2010 American Express Kentucky Women's Open was just as dramatic as the morning skies have been in Louisville the past two days. Mallory Blackwelder designed her own version of thunder and lightning as she hit her tee shot within ten feet on the final hole, a par three measuring 153, and then made the birdie putt to win her first Open Championship.

Her even par score for the second round combined with the 2 under par score yesterday gave a two shot victory over defending champion Leah Wigger and low amateur of the championship Jessica Smith. Smith could have forced a playoff with a birdie of her own at eighteen but instead had to settled for a bogey and a second place tie overall.

The low score for the tournament went to Ashley Rose as she posted a four under par 68 in her final round and was the second place low amateur in the field. Also, Susan Stewart won the inaugural "Mid-Amateur Division" trophy with a score of 158.

Special thanks to all of the sponsors and to Wildwood Country Club for serving as wonderful hosts for the event.
