KGA-PGA, Inc. Co-Junior Players of the Year Meet in Women's Kentucky Amateur Championship Match
April Emerson and Lydia Gumm each earned the same number of points (137) in the 2008 KGA-PGA, Inc. Junior Player of the Year race, and were thus declared co-winners of the coveted title. Less than nine months later, the two met in a thrilling championship match of the 2009 Women's Kentucky Amateur Championship at Cherry Blossom Golf & Country Club in Georgetown, which Emerson captured on the third extra hole. Both players are veterans of the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour. In addition, earlier this year, Gumm was named as one of the recipients of a Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant to assist her family in expenses incurred in competing in junior golf competitions at the regional and national level.
Kentucky's family of golf organizations congratulates both players.
